Hey friends,
Till now Deepak has summed up most of the ideas for ‘fund generation’. (Just to add, please read comments to Deepak’s fund raising post, Nishtha has provided some excellent thoughts on elimination of ‘adsense’).
I also thought about this fund raising campaign. However, was not able to think on lines of fund generation using Internet = ( I have different approach. Let me take all of you through my approach.
What we need is some cash so that we can buy relevant things for children of ‘Mobile crèches’. Now, I feel that people are hesitant about giving cash (I know we can convince some for cash). So, what can people give? Clothes? (Na…. bad idea), Food? (Worse idea).
Hmmm…. After much thought I came to conclusion that there must be something that is basically rag to people, yet it has some cash value. I guess its old newspapers. (What…. Am I sounding crazy????????). Actually I have made some analysis for this too.
Assumptions:
A typical housing society (carlton/weelington/maple heights…e.t.c.) has 15 floors, 6 towers, 6 houses per floor. This gives me 5*5*15 = 540 houses per society.
1/3rd of people will be interested in contributing.
Study:
We will approach all the 540 houses and ask them to provide us with the bundle of old new papers (Obviously, we will give them details that why we are doing so).
180 people (1/3rd) will respond. On an average they will sell 5 kg’s of rag. This comes out to be 900 Kg’s. Now comes the cost per kg. I guess its 4.50 INR per kg. So it comes out to be 4050 INR. (Sounds like easy way of getting funds!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Now comes the best part. Considering that all my assumptions and study has one or the other flaw (some may think its total crap), but I still feel that we can at least raise somewhere around 1000-1500 INR per society by just asking for old newspapers (their way for contributing money) and selling them.
Hope that my crazy idea makes some sense.
I am in..
ReplyDeleteWhich is the first society we are looking at??
Further, are there any approach suggested??
I mean contacting the president of the society or something like that, coz these days there are many restrictions in society so we cannot directly go and ask for papers, we should have some back from the management of the society. Once we get that we could generate enough funds. That too a continous source for every month.
Grat idea dude!!! :)
I think this is a great idea...
ReplyDeleteWell the idea posted by Chakshu is nice. But we should not forget the fact that when the households sell the newspapers to the raddiwala, then it provides employement to them. I guess we can come up with some more constructive ideas.
ReplyDeleteHey Nishank,
ReplyDeleteI guess you misunderstood the idea somewhere. What do you think we are going to do with newspapers??
Well we would be selling them to raddiwallas only...
"then it provides employement to them" ??
I don't know if you are referring 'them' to somebody else :)
please correct me if i'm wrong somewhere..
I think it’s a fine idea, pretty innovative!
ReplyDeleteThere are a couple of things that I would like everyone to consider. Firstly, there is a definitive overhead, in terms of collecting these newspapers, transporting them to the radhiwalla, not everybody is going to be home when we approach their flats, we are going to take tons of time explaining the concept to people, etc. But the upside is the fact that it’s going to increase our visibility extensively, and may help us to build our network.
Yes i have the same mind with prashant.
ReplyDeleteThis will definately increase our visibility (I would say exponentialy :)). Now regarding the overhead of collecting raddi and transporting it to raddiwala can be avoided by assigning this task to one raddiwala who will be picking raddi from all the flats and at the end of the day will give the amount to the concerned person or coordinater.
Now regarding task of explaining people about this concept is going to be a bit tough but can be eased out by first explaiining it to the management of the society. Once we get them on our side i think a notice can be put up on the notice board of each multi story in the society explaining the concept and the reason for this purpose.
Ofcourse we would not be making it cumpolsory and would make it open to only those who are interested in this. We can clearly mention in the notice that the interested people may provide their flat numbers to the coordinater and on the first day of the month the raddiwala will be coming to their house for picking the stuff.
This is a great idea and inspite of the minor obstacles that deepak mentioned, we can just go ahead and experiment it in one of the societies...and then continue it further.
ReplyDeleteLet's start with our own society...what say chakshu?
Yeah we can have co-ordination. Rest one thing is definitely true, we need to really work hard and devote our time. But these are the things which are necessary. With some simple presentation or pamphlets we can approach Wellington society (Phase V gurgaon). However we need at least 5-6 who shall approach the Wellington society's president.
ReplyDeleteWork is either fun or drudgery. It depends on your attitude. I like fun. - Colleen C. Barrett
So let’s get ready for the FUN.
I like fun too.. :o)
ReplyDeleteThough i'm not in Wellington but i am ready to propose this to him.
Lets see how much fun we can have there :). Proposing an idea of seling raddi in Wellington..
Its goona be interesting...
Who else is coming?
Hey you people doing great stuff man, its so heartening to see youth waking up and doing something, taking actions rather than complaining about the system. Good going people . Well just wanted to tell you that an organisation is doing this rag funding in chd and its performing pretty well. They have a large base in chandigarh. Well lemme tell u try going the media way, ask some news channel to cover your next event and do ask people to come up and help. Well sometimes, Somethings click. But nice work man.
